I have a fundamental belief that we are capable of healing and that the natural healing capacities are already a part of who we are. A therapist is not a healer, but is a facilitator of healing. I believe that there are three key elements that need to be in place for healing to take place in a therapeutic setting. First, your level of motivation and commitment to work through your issues is the top priority. A therapist cannot work harder than you do at resolving your issues. Second, the therapeutic relationship needs to be a good fit. Third, it is the responsibility of the therapist to provide safe, effective and competent treatment that matches the needs of each client.
